Our
Story

Everyone has a story; and everyone's story is worth knowing. There are many trails across this 37 year journey that defines our story and the birth of Lone Pine Tiny Homes. But, to keep it simple, we'll share some highlights you might enjoy knowing…

As a girl, I loved going hunting with my dad each fall and staying in his 1973 Midas Smokey Travel Trailer. I was intrigued by the efficiency of a well designed small living space. I would grow into a teenager dreaming of my own small-space-living as I spent summers staying on the Texas coast staying in the “suite” my grandfather had added to his boathouse. With the addition of a small kitchen, I realized the small but cozy space would have all one needed in a practical, fun living space. After all, the real beauty was outside with the amazing sunrises coming up over the coast line. Phil grew up building houses, along with any and everything else, in the shadow of his dad. He has built every home we have ever lived in but two. We really didn’t seek out small living, but it always seemed to find us. We learned early on that we loved dreaming, designing, and building things together. In 2012, we would hit the road with Phil’s work and small living would shift to tiny living. Since 2012, 435 square feet is the biggest space we have lived in. The smallest - 100 square feet! Yep, for six months we successfully lived in 100 square feet, a choice that kept Phil from having to return to work travel as he found himself without a job for the first time in his life. It was at that time as well we experimented with our first Shipping Container home. We had already built, enjoyed, and sold a cabin that ended up as an investment property in Bee Cave, TX. But, with Phil a welder by trade and skilled with building anything out of metal, our imaginations took off with the endless possibilities of Shipping Container homes. We would continue to tinker with side projects of building and selling tiny homes, all the while dreaming of it becoming a full time endeavor. The COVID pandemic would place that opportunity in our hands. In April 2020, Phil, like so many others, lost his full time job. We realized it was “now or never”. We weren’t getting any younger, and we knew if he went back to full time work for someone else another five+ years would quickly pass us by. So, we sold our land, paid off debt, downsized, and stepped out in faith to see the vision we had for Lone Pine Tiny Homes slowly become a reality. We are still small; we are still learning and growing; we are still walking by faith. But, the vision is slowly becoming a reality. It is our goal to bring our personal experience of living tiny to create affordable, practical, and beautiful tiny/small space living options for individuals and investors alike. Since no journey is simply about ourselves, we are committed and passionate about giving back to the God who has set us free by using a portion of the proceeds from Lone Pine Tiny Homes, LLC to rescue women and children from Human Trafficking. We also offer special pricing to faith based ministries and retreat centers, desiring for all to see accelerated timelines in their Kingdom based dreams and visions becoming realties.
